Saving the Environment, One Painting at a Time

SCAPE's Popular Shows Provide our Artist Members with an Opportunity for Exhibition and Sales of their Art while Helping to Preserve our Environment

Two or more exciting exhibits are planned every year, each in collaboration with a non-profit organization dedicating to protect open spaces and to increase public awareness of environmental and conservation issues.  In the past our beneficiaries have included the Environmental Defense Center, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, the Audubon Society, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Gaviota Coast Conservancy, to name but a few.

Natalie Wilson, Shows Chair 2021

Message from Shows Chair, Natalie Wilson

Good news for 2021: We have two solid shows planned for the coming year with the popular Santa Barbara Maritime Museum show 18-31 online and an exciting Climate Change show, live on October. 23 and 24, online otherwise.  At this point it’s hard to say whether these exhibitions will be physically open to the public or virtual or both, but SCAPE is definitely committed to them.  Of course, the Maritime show will feature aquatic themes and ocean vistas and the Climate Change exhibition is open to just about anything that deals with our climate…so the possibilities there are endless. With these two opportunities to show your work, you should be inspired to keep painting.

Another bit of good news is that both Bonnie Freeman and Joan Price have offered to assist me with these shows. I am truly appreciative of their help, for sure. If there are any other members who would like to be involved with developing shows, please contact me. or 805-687-7123.

Thank you.
